Xena Biography

When Xena was a young woman, a warlord attacked her home village of Amphipolis.  Xena and her brother Lyceus started a defense against the warlord and his army.  During one of the battles, Xena's brother was killed.  And, Xena's mother hated her for letting her brother be killed and Xena ran away.  She became a warlord herself and attacked any village that may pose a threat to her own village.

One day, she met Julius Caesar and M'Lila.  She became friends with M'Lila and fell in love with Caesar, however, he betrayed her and crucified her.  On the brink of death, M'Lila, cut her free from her cross and took her to be healed.  Her legs had been broken and needed healing.  While recovering, some Romans found Xena and tried to kill her.  Xena was unable to defend herself, so M'Lila defended them both, however she was killed.  In a fit of rage, Xena slowly murdered each of the Romans, ignoring the pain in her badly injured legs.  She soon decided that a new Xena had been born, one with a new purpose in life...death.

Soon, Xena was travelling places, killing people & seeking power.  During this time, she had a son with her new lover, Borias.  However, Xena gave her son to the centaurs as she didn't want him to become a target for the hundreds that hated her.  Time went on and Xena's rampage got worse.
Hercules came into her life, and helped her to turn her life around.  Then, she met Gabrielle.   Gabrielle became her new inspiration in life, her new hope. They formed an unbreakable friendship and with Gabrielle's help, Xena changed her ways.  Xena wanted to redeem her past crimes and help the weak.

Gabrielle was raised in a small, farming village in Greece.  She was betrothed to a farmer named Perdicus and was going to live a normal life in her village.  Then she met Xena.

Xena inspired her to do more than what had been planned for herself & Gabrielle managed to get Xena agree to take her along as a sidekick.  She travelled around Greece helping Xena defeat warlords and gods, all the while keeping her talkative, bard side.

The longer she spent with Xena, the more she matured.  After a while she would join in the fight rather than stay behind to help the wounded.  Her continual search to find out who she was took her all over the world, and she changed many times.

After finally deciding that she was a warrior, she fought with passion and strength.  However, it did not matter what war she fought, or how bloody she got, Gabrielle always remained true to herself and continued to be as creative and pure as she was before meeting Xena.  She used to be Gabrielle the Bard, but changed into Gabrielle the Battling Bard.

Hercules is the son of a god and a mortal, the god's wife, Hera got so jealous of Hercules that she put a spell on him which made him kill his family.  Since then Hercules travelled around the world with his friend Iolaus in the hope of doing good and putting right the many wrongs that Hera did.

He met Xena for the first time when she tried to turn Iolaus against him, but he incredibly managed to turn her from the dark side and helped her to do good.  Xena became Hercules' first love since the death of his wife and they teamed up a number of times to battle evil together.  Hercules had to kill his own father, Zeus to protect Xena while she was trying to give birth to her second child, Eve.

Hercules had to carry the eternal burden of being immortal.  When Iolaus died he started to change, however he was put back on his path again and ever since fought the good fight completely selflessly.  ercules is the son of a god and a mortal, the god's wife, Hera, got so jealousy of Hercules that she put a spell on him which made him kill his entire family. Xena became Hercules's first love since the death of his wife and they teamed up a number of times to battle evil together. Hercules himself has to carry the eternal burden of being immortal. When Iolaus died he started to change, however he was put back on his path again and ever since fought the good fight completely selflessly.

Iolaus is Hercules' bestfriend, they travel everywhere together.  In Prometheus when Iolaus nearly died, Gabrielle told him a story about soulmates.  When he recovered he still remembered the story and knew that he ahd found his soulmate in Gabrielle.  Though the next time, they ran into his each other, it was not a good situation as Xena was dead.  Iolaus had to leave Gabrielle so that he could go back and tell Hercules.

Hercules and Iolaus' friendship was not so strong when they first met Xena.  She tricked Iolaus into thinking she loved him to tear him apart from Hercules.  However, it worked out because Hercules helped Xena to turn her life around and Iolaus eventually forgave her.

Ares is the infamous God of War.  His eternal battle to get Xena to become his Warrior Queen, and to rule the world.  While his tactics start off boldly by trying to force Xena to join him, he finally realizes that force won't work.  He becomes more cunning and tries to manipulate Xena in many different ways.

When Gabrielle and Eve are killed, and their death means Xena's defeat, Ares does the honourable thing and restores Eve and Gabrielle's lives.  That act saves Xena, but Ares loses his immortality and becomes a normal human.  Strangely, this is when Ares becomes the closest he ever got to Xena, that is until his godhood is restored.  Almost immediately, he is up to his old tricks yet again.

While Ares usually appears to be hard, cruel and vicious every now and then, another side of him emerges.  Sometimes, it's his comical side, and sometimes a caring side that apparently loves Xena.  Each of these qualities and flaws make Ares the most interesting of the Gods and the most loveable.

When Callisto was a child, Xena came to her village, Cirra with her army and burnt the village to the ground.  Almost everyone died, including all of Callisto's family, and since that day Callisto trained hard so she could kill Xena to avenge her family.  By the time Callisto was ready Xena had changed her life, working for good instead of evil. This didn't bother Callisto though she still wanted Xena's blood.

Callisto captured Gabrielle and used her to make Xena fight her.  Xena won the fight, but did not kill Callisto instead sending her to prison.  Callisto escaped shortly thereafter and went after Xena again, but much had changed and Gabrielle had married Perdicus.  When Callisto tried to kill Gabrielle, Perdicus got in the way and was killed.  Gabrielle was devastated and swore to avenge his death.

Gabrielle tried to kill Callisto by waiting until Callisto fell asleep and sneaked her way into her hideout.  She put a sword to Callisto's throat but still couldn't kill her, Gabrielle wasn't a murderer.  Callisto awoke and captured Gabby using her again to make Xena fight.  Again, Xena won but this time killed Callisto.

Callisto was brought back however and kept after Xena.  Later, Xena and Gabrielle were crucified because of Callisto, but it was while they were dead Callisto went through a big change.  While fighting Callisto in Hell, Xena gave her "light" to Callisto and redeemed her for all her past crimes, this subsequently turned Xena into a demon.

Callisto, now an angel, brought Xena and Gabrielle back to life.  She even helped Xena, Gabrielle and Eli begin the twilight of the gods, and was reunited with her family in Heaven...forever.

Ephiny is the most noble, honourable Amazon Queen who ever ruled the Greek Amazons.  She originally served Queen Melosa but Ephiny's worst enemy Velasca killed Melosa.  When Gabrielle briefly rejoined the Greek Amazons, after Xena died the first time, Gabrielle was made Queen.  Once Xena was brought back to life, Ephiny was made Queen by Gabrielle.

However, Velasca returned to the Amazons, after being presumed dead, as a Goddess and wanted to kill Gabrielle and Ephiny.  Xena managed to trap Velasca before she could kill either of them.

As well as being an indomitable Amazon, Ephiny also married her once enemy, Phantes.  Phantes was a centaur and together they had a son named Xenon, named in honour of Xena.  Ephiny was killed in battle by Brutus but returned later as a ghost when her son was in trouble.  For the second time, Ephiny managed to form an alliance between centaurs and another group of people.  Even after her death, Ephiny's courage and leadership shaped the way the Greek Amazons lived and ruled.

Autolycus is the legendary King of Thieves.  He makes all his money from stealing from rich Kings and Lords, yet still he has gained a close friendship to Xena and Gabrielle. After Xena employed Autolycus to steal an item that belonged to a village that once helped Xena their friendship started to form and since then he has travelled with them for many adventures.

When Xena died, she used his body to steal some ambrosia, the food of the gods, and thus regained her mortality. He also helped Gabrielle and Joxer to stop Jett, Joxer's brother,  from assassinating Queen Cleopatra of Egypt.

Autolycus always had a hard life, he was left to fend for himself and his brother from a very young age.  He couldn't get a job because he was too young so he started to steal and it was from that that he became a great thief.  Autolycus' brother was murdered by a thief/warlord and Autolycus swore vengeance on him.  However, when he got the chance he could not kill the man because Xena persuaded him not to.

Joxer was one of a set of triplets born into a family of warlords.  As a child, Joxer grew up desperately trying to fit in with his brother, Jett and his parents, who were each as ruthless and vicious as the next warlord. However, Joxer never really fit in, his fighting skills were always pathetic at best, and his greatest talent was playing the lyre.

Despite all this, Joxer grew into a warrior of a sort and eventually met Xena and Gabrielle. He pledged his allegiance to Xena, but when she told him to leave to went to Callisto and tried to join with her.  That didn't work out either and he was left tied to a stake in one of Callisto's sick games.   When Xena freed him,  he switched sides again...back to Xena.

This switch was mainly because he was in love with Xena's companion, Gabrielle.  He spent the next few years travelling with them trying to win Gabrielle's heart, but never could.  When he thought that both Xena and Gabrielle died, he married a tramp named Meg, and lived with her and their 2 children.

When Xena and Gabrielle returned many years later...they weren't dead after all.  Joxer, now 25 years older, continued to help them on mnay journey's but this was his last adventure. He was killed by Livia, Xena's daughter, while saving Gabrielle's life.

Aphrodite is the famous Goddess of Love.  Right from her first appearances she provesnto be spiteful, jealous, and manipulative, yet through the course of the series, she slowly changes.  When Xena and Gabrielle's lives are at risk from the other Gods, Aphrodite helps and is actually the one who saves Gabrielle's life.

Aphrodite shows that she can be very petty over the little things, but when it comes to her friends she is very caring in her own way.  At one point, she loses her immortality which teaches her a few lessons about being mortal, but her friend Xena restores it for her in the end.

Aphrodite has a son named Cupid, whom she is very close to, despite their frequent arguing.  But, underneath their love and friendship is very strong.

Aphrodite has no single lover, she has many and she's proud of it.  In fact, the whole concept of loving just one person seems to be lost on her despite the fact that she was Hephaestus lover and companion.

Cupid is the famous God of Love.  He is one of the rare, unselfish, friendly gods and usually doesn't cause much trouble.  His son, Bliss, managed to steal Cupid's legendary bow and arrow one day, causing havoc.  Xena and Gabrielle were left to sort out the mess the baby caused by firing arrows at everyone making them fall in love with the first person they see.

Cupid's mother is Aphrodite, a slightly pettier goddess who does cause some trouble.  Unlike his mother, Cupid doesn't believe in jealous love, spiteful love, or cruel love.  Instead, he uses his powers for good by matchmaking perfect couples and bringing happiness into their lives.

Julius Caesar is a fierce Roman leader.  It was prophesied that he would one day conquer the world.  He was captured by the "evil" Xena and her army but they became friends and lovers.  When they met again, later, Caesar betrayed  her and captured her and all her crew. He had them all tied to crosses to be killed and had Xena's legs broken.  Caesar is the one character that antagonized Xena, in many situations.  Xena was Caesar's worst enemy.   He had few friends and was killed by Brutus on the Ides of March.

Hope is Gabrielle's daughter, and her father is Dahak, an evil God.  Hope grew at a very fast rate, and was killing men within a few days of being born.  Xena tried to kill her but Gabrielle wouldn't let her.

Gabrielle placed Hope into a basket on the river hoping she would get somewhere safe, even though she told Xena that she threw her off a cliff.  Hope did survive, she was rescued by Callisto, who brought her up.  The next time, Gabrielle saw her she looked much older and hoped that she was good instead of evil.  However, Gabrielle learned the truth when Hope killed Solan, Xena's son.

Guilt ridden, Gabrielle took it upon herself to kill Hope.  She poisoned her however, Hope was resurrected by followers of Dahak, with the help of Callisto and Ares.  With the rebirth of Hope, came more power and evil than ever before and she was eager to kill many.  Once again, Gabrielle knew she had to stop her a pushed her off a cliff into a pit of fire.  In doing so, Gabrielle fell also, and so suffered the same fate.

However, this was not the end.  They both miraculously survived.
